I was born and raised in Guernsey and have three children, two of whom are now adults, and a six-year-old. We’ve also got a great little dog named Rocky.
During my working life, I have worked in industries that continue to shape our islands economy, such as fishing, the construction sector and financial services. These days I am a businessman and I serve on the boards of several significant and successful international companies. See www.lyndontrott.gg for details.
Guernsey has been good to me and I consider myself incredibly lucky to have been born here. That is in part why I have always been, and remain, driven to continue to serve our island after more than 20 years.
I was first elected, as the then youngest member, in 2000. I served a term as Guernsey’s Treasury & Resources Minister (2004-2008) before going on to become our jurisdictions youngest Chief Minister to date. Since 2016, I’ve held the office of Vice-President, Policy and Resources (Deputy Chief Minister).
Recently I’ve led politically on the States’ economic response to the Covid 19 pandemic, which has seen us provide much needed assistance to over 3000 businesses and more than 10,000 people.
I lead Guernsey’s contribution to the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, which allows us to forge valuable global connections, which following Brexit we will need more than ever.
In a world that is challenged by rapid change, I provide experience, knowledge and stability together with a track record of putting Guernsey and its people first. Having led politically on our economic response measures, I have a deep understanding of much of Guernsey’s essential commercial fabric. I am ideally placed to focus on the key issue of our economic recovery as we seek to Revive & Thrive together.
I personally pledge to continue to do all I can to ensure that Guernsey remains inclusive, economically and environmentally sustainable and safe for all.
