David Inglis

Guernsey has been my home for over 40 years. My three grown-up children were raised and went to school here and I now have six grandchildren. I have been actively involved in local life; in any spare time I have, I enjoy time with my family, playing golf, walking and supporting Leeds United Football Club.

I have experience of the hotel and catering industry, contract estimating, production control and specialist recruitment. The most notable part of my career was spent establishing a Guernsey-based company providing dedicated retail design and fit-out services that later diversified into a successful business-to-business office furniture and design solutions. As it approaches its 40th anniversary, my guidance and stability is still called upon for challenges like C19 and Brexit implications.

I believe I can apply my knowledge of strategic planning and day-to-day business leadership, along with commercial awareness, problem solving and strong communication skills, to the role of States Deputy.

I have already performed this role from 2012 to 2016 and made notable contributions as a member of the Health and Social Care, Social Security and Culture & Leisure committees.  My work included cross-departmental representations on an additional 10 sub-committees.

I am currently involved in the Guernsey community through my role as Age Concern Guernsey LBG Chairman supporting every aspect of the charity’s wide reaching activities. I work closely with project boards associated with Health & Social Care including Carewatch, Joint Strategic Needs for the Older Person and Ageing Well in the Bailiwick.

I served the Torteval Douzaine from January 2003 to November 2017, holding various parochial positions including Procurer, Constable, and Douzenier. I have been an advisor, mentor and Chairman of Guernsey Young Enterprise (1990 - 2005), a Committee Member for the Confederation of Guernsey Industry (2001-2017), Chairman of PostWatch Guernsey (2001-2007) and Chairman of the Guernsey Island Games Association (2009 -2013)

I believe I have the ability, determination and strength of character to stand again and work for the Guernsey people, to take the time to understand the issues. If you use one of your 38 island-wide votes to elect me, I will endeavour to move our island forward while balancing the principles of diversity and consensus.
